The proposed electricity grid will be used in the evacuation of wind and solar power from plants that have approximately doubled in capacity over the last five years, reported the bloomberg.com.

Commenting on the development, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Secretary Ratan P. Watal was quoted by the site as saying that the proposed grid will be spread across seven states over the coming six years.

This project is expected to receive around €250m from German development bank KfW. The bank will fund approximately €1bn, added Watal.

Apart from KfW, the project is expected to receive funds from the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, India’s National Electricity Fund and state governments.
