As per Russian data, the trade volume since 2005 grew by 30% annually. In 2008 the $7 billion mark was reached. In spite of negative world tendencies, in the first six months of 2009 trade raised by almost 18% on the same period in 2008. Machine building accounts for 49% of Russian exports to India.
Indian President, Pratibha Patil was invited to pay an official visit by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
According to Kremlin source, the two leaders will also touch upon urgent international and regional issues and noted that bilateral trade is growing.
