Under the project, the companies will develop three gas condensate fields namely Stupa, West Stupa, and East Mandu located 35km southeast of Balikpapan and two gas fields namely Jempang and Metulang situated 58 kilometers south of the Peciko field in water depths between 45m to 60m.

The first phase of work will involve installation of three platforms and drilling of 19 wells.

INPEX and Total are expecting the average flow rate will reach 69,000 barrel of oil equivalent per day, including 18,000 barrel per day of condensates at the end of 2013.

The gas and liquids will be transported via a new pipeline from the Stupa platform to the onshore terminal Senipah operated by Total, from where a part of the gas will be sent to Bontang plant for liquefaction.

It is part of the program to balance the production decline affecting the Mahakam production sharing contract.
