The agency will also extend its support to Lviv’s efforts on reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating effects of climate change.

IFC’s Residential Energy Efficiency Advisory Project is working with the Lviv’s center for homeowners association to provide legal and financial solutions around energy-efficient renovations in multifamily houses.

The project will replace the outdated and inefficient heating equipment which will in turn reduce 70,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually.

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy remarked that their city with IFC’s help is leading the nations efforts in revamping its old and inefficient residential sector.

IFC Ukraine operations head Elena Voloshina added, "Energy efficient improvements are a cross-cutting theme for our work in Ukraine.

"IFC is offering both investment and advisory products to help speed up the reforms and make the country more energy efficient. "

The Ukraine Residential Energy Efficiency Project was launched by IFC in 2010 and is being currently implemented in partnership with Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Economic Affairs.
