Located at Invenergy’s Grand Ridge Wind project site, the Xtreme Power’s 1.5MW Regulation Power Management (RPM) will supply clean, renewable power to the new market managed by the regional transmission organization PJM.

RPM will employ a long-life lithium-titanate battery technology and an AGC signal to harness full four-quadrant power in less than one second that will enable the company to balance the supply and demand in the market.

Commenting on the energy storage installation Invenergy North America chief development officer Jim Shield said that the company is paving a way for grid stability by employing the latest storage technology.

Xtreme Power chief executive officer Alan Gotcher added, "We are thrilled to add Invenergy to our growing list of marquee customers in the electric utility industry, and proud to launch this joint fast-acting frequency regulation project."

The project is scheduled to be operational in December and will add 77MW installed capacity to the company’s current portfolio.
