The development will run from southeast of Gifford to just north of Royal, east to Dynegy’s Vermilion Power Station near Oakwood.

An application to Champaign and Vermilion counties to build the wind farm should is expected be ready by the end of August. The local project should produce 10 to 20 full-time jobs, primarily involving maintaining the turbines. The company will sell the power generated to utility companies.

The project will be called the California Ridge Wind Energy LLC and will be owned by Invenergy on a long-term basis.

Invenergy and its affiliates are focused on the development, ownership, operation and management of large-scale wind sites and other clean energy generation assets in the North American and European markets.
