Rasoul Zargar, the deputy minister for water and wastewater affairs at the Iranian energy ministry, said: Iran is also involved in a joint venture with Azerbaijan for building a dam and hydropower plant. Preliminary studies for the construction of a dam and hydropower plant on the Aras River in Armenia are also underway.
The Iranian energy ministry has plans to build power stations in Iraq and Syria, and energy infrastructure in Pakistan and Mali, according to the news source.
Mr Zargar said: Iran has already built the Friendship Dam northeast of Mashhad near the Turkmenistan-Iran border, the Anzab Tunnel in Tajikistan, a wind power plant in Armenia and the Iran-Armenia gas pipeline.
