Under the contract, RKC will construct a new refinery at 100km south of Baghdad on a six sq km land.
The new refinery will have a processing capacity of 200,000 barrels of crude oil per day and will produce high quality, high octane gasoline (regular and premium) and diesel fuel for the domestic market.
The technical and processing aspects of the plant will be managed by Saipem and the plant will use modern technologies.
The plant is expected to have full conversion rate, which is in line with new Iraqi laws in refining and the environment.
Construction of the refinery is slated to be complete and begin commercial operations within 48 months of signing the contract.
