The industrial complex will be built in the Meta Department of Colombia, between the towns of Puerto Lopez and Puerto Gaitan, an area traditionally occupied by cattle ranches which is now converting to agricultural use including sugar cane.
The contract has a total price tag of $140m and the project will begin immediately with the engineering work. Isolux said that this award in Colombia is the first biofuel project executed by it outside Europe.
Isolux is a global construction, concessions, energy and industrial services company. Bioenergy is a member of the Ecopetrol Group and is engaged in the development of biofuels.
