Under the contract, Itron will deliver 250,000 water meters to accurately measure water usage in the metropolitan area, over a period of 18 months.
L&T will install Itron’s water meters as part of the contract awarded by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), which is responsible for the delivery and distribution of drinking water in the region.
L&T said Itron’s meters enable the company to provide a foundation for DJB’s customers to more closely monitor their consumption.
Itron Water president and COO Marcel Regnier said the water meters will be assembled at the company’s newly inaugurated water meter factory in Dehradun.
Itron is engaged in providing smart grid and smart distribution solutions to electric, gas and water utilities around the globe.
