GGC, who partnered with design firm, Centro Tecnologico de Gestao Ambiental (CTGA) to bid on the project, will install ITT’s Flygt and Lowara pumps, Sanitaire diffusers coupled with Atlas Copco blowers, and ITT’s Wedeco UV reactors at three new wastewater treatment plants throughout Montemor-o-Velho.

The wastewater systems, which will serve a population of 30,000 people in Montemor-o-Velho and the surrounding area, will have the capacity to treat 1500 cubic meters of water and wastewater each day.

The project began with the construction work on the first wastewater treatment plant in March 2010. Project completion for all three plants is scheduled for first quarter 2011.

Andre Dhawan, vice president of residential and commercial water business at ITT, Europe, said: “These are exactly the kinds of projects where ITT can create and deliver extraordinary value to our customers. We have the complete array of energy-efficient products and technologies.

“Equally important, we have the application expertise in providing integrated solutions for wastewater and clean water pumping backed by the world-class engineering and manufacturing processes of an $11bn high-technology company.”
