The street light solution utilizes iWatt’s PrimAccurate technology that eliminates the need for optical isolators in off-line power supplies, reducing bill-of-material (BOM) costs and improving reliability.

The iWatt implementation is comprised of two-stages, a power factor correction circuit plus AC/DC converters.

Shenzhen Ruijing Industrial R&D director Zou Xian Hua said iWatt enabled the company to reduce heat in its street light while also reducing the total BOM.

"Their modular approach makes it easy to modify our solution as needed to meet different end-customer power requirements," Hua said.

The iWatt implementation is an efficient alternative to conventional three-stage solutions that have a PFC circuit plus an AC/DC stage followed by DC/DC converters.
