Jacobs will provide engineering and procurement services for the utilities requirements of the refinery, a fundamental component of the first phase of the project, under the terms of the contract.

The Sturgeon refinery is being designed to enhance cost effectiveness and minimize environmental impact, which is situated around 30 miles northeast of Edmonton in Alberta.

The facility after three phases, which is expected to operate at a capacity of 150,000bpd, will produce diesel, diluent, and other bitumen products for national and global markets.

Jacobs Group vice president Greg Rumford said, "We are delighted to have the opportunity to develop a relationship with North West Redwater Partnership as we leverage our extensive refinery capabilities and expertise to support them in working toward their goals for this significant project."

North West Redwater Partnership is a joint venture of North West Upgrading and Canadian Natural Resources.
