As part of the agreement, WorleyParsons will prepare the tender and aid in evaluating bidders for the plant’s construction.
The firm will also assist in establishing a utility company, expected to be a public-private entity, to own and operate the plant, Touqan said.
Khaled Touqan, JAEC chairman, said WorleyParsons would undertake various tasks related to the long-term nuclear fuel strategy, spent fuel and radioactive waste management strategy, environmental protection issues, localization of power plant technology and services and the structure of the electric nuclear utility.
Djurica Tankosich, WorleyParsons senior vice president, said the company will provide Jordan with its long expertise to serve the Kingdom’s nuclear program.
WorleyParsons will undertake a number of technical and other consultancies and services to evaluate the nuclear power plant technology that would be most suitable for Jordan.
