She will lead the LanzaTech team to extend its position at the forefront of the waste gas to fuels market.

Dr Holmgren joins LanzaTech from UOP, a Honeywell company, where she was vice president and general manager of the Renewable Energy and Chemicals business unit. She brings over 20 years of experience in the energy sector including a proven track record in the development and commercialization of fuels and chemicals technologies.

In her most recent role, Dr Holmgren led UOP’s renewable business from its inception through to the achievement of significant revenues from the commercialization of multiple novel biofuels technologies.

LanzaTech has developed and demonstrated a proprietary process that allows the use of a broad spectrum of waste gas resources for the production of lowest cost fuel ethanol. Using this process, non food resources such as industrial waste gas, syngas from biomass and reformed natural gas can become a resource for high volume fuels and plastics.

LanzaTech has operated a pilot plant at New Zealand Steel at Glenbrook, near Auckland, using gases directly from the steel making process. Co Founder of LanzaTech, Dr Sean Simpson says the microbial fermentation of industrial gas feedstocks has numerous advantages over existing value adding options.
