The proposed project will be located in Jinchang of the Gansu Province and is expected to require an investment of RMB2bn ($321m).

Scheduled to be completed and connected to the grid by June 2013, necessary approvals for the plant have been secured from the Gansu Development and Reform Commission.

JinkoSolar Chairman Xiande Li said that Jinchang’s considerable exposure to sunlight and ample land resources makes it ideal for PV power plant development.

"We are very pleased to cooperate with Jinchuan Group, a reputed SOE with international competitiveness.

"We are confident that our cooperation will aid in the development of a green future for the region and a sustainable return on our investment," Li added.

The addition of the large PV plant add to Jinchuan Group’s three thermal plants in the region and further diversifies its energy portfolio.
