These orders are for 119 units of wind energy transformers, which are destined for a wind farm currently under development in the US and are scheduled for shipment in the third quarter of 2011.

The company has also won orders for customized transformers for polysilicon manufacturing plants, valued at about $15.5m, between the months of February and May.

Jinpan CEO Zhiyuan Li said that the company’s order flow in May reflects the rising demand for its wind products, particularly in the US.

"We also believe that June will represent another solid month of sales in this segment of our business," Li said.

Jinpan is a designer, manufacturer and distributor of cast resin transformers.
