Kitamura stated that J-POWER plans to collaborate with power utility firms to build a coal thermal power plant that would reduce dust, nitrogen oxide and sulfur oxide emissions on coal-rich Sumatra.

He added that in India, the company is contemplating projects that merge J-POWER’s technology transfers with Japan’s financial aid.

J-POWER stated that if coal thermal power stations in China, US and India were substituted with more advanced plants, yearly emissions of carbon dioxide may be decreased by nearly 1.3 million tons, near to Japan’s yearly total emissions.
