A few of these projects are part of the firm’s greenfield expansion proposals. The company is implementing a 1,200 MW power project at Jaigarh located in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra.

JSW Energy intends on making it a port-based power station by establishing a port facility and creating a complete business centre in the coming years.

The Barmer project would produce 1,080 MW of power, which will be provided to the distribution companies (discoms) located in Rajasthan. The company is also establishing a hydro power project on the Chamba river located in Himachal Pradesh, which will produce 260 MW, worth nearly INR17 billion.

Sajjan Jindal, managing director of JSW Energy said Normally hydro projects take time, we are awaiting for environment and forest clearance for the HP project and then will work forward.”

The company intends on becoming a 10,000 MW firm by the year 2015.

JSW Energy invested nearly INR50 billion in the power segment in 2008-09.
