The Jwaneng Mine that is jointly managed by De Beers and the government of Botswana has niw completed 30 years of diamond production.

Botswana President Seretse Ian Khama commemorated the occassion and highlighted its significant contribution to the country’s economy.

"Today, Botswana is a significant player in world diamond production, mainly due to the contribution of Jwaneng mine, the jewel in the Debswana diamond mining crown which includes Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtshaa mines," said Khama.

Jwaneng mine general manager Balisi Bonyongo remarked that the occasion was special one for the De Beers Group of Companies.

"Diamonds have shaped this country’s future," Bonyongo noted.

Debswana board chairman Eric Molale commended men and women who were a part of the mine’s operations each day.
