The awards have been organized by the Energy Innovation Program Office. led by the Singapore Economic Development Board and the Energy Market Authority.

The 1MW plant with panel installations over 10,000 square meters of roof space, is expected to live in February 2013.

Keppel Infrastructure Fund Management CEO and trustee-manager Thomas Pang said, "The advances in photovoltaic panels have allowed us a cost-effective solution to harness renewable energy to reduce the consumption of conventional power at the wastewater recycling plant.

"We are happy to be able to lower the carbon footprint of the plant and contribute to the national effort to reduce dependency on traditional sources of energy."

Keppel Group has won the award in 2011 as well for its district cooling plant expansion at Changi Business Park.
