Under the contract, KBR will provide engineering and procurement services for the facility, which will produce renewable fuels from wood biomass.

KBR will also provide direct hire construction for the commercialization of KiOR’s technology, which is designed to convert biomass into drop-in biofuels such as gasoline and diesel blendstocks.

The biomass-to-renewable facility is expected to process approximately 500 tons per day of wood biomass and produce over 11 million gallons of fuel per year.

KBR said the unit will be based on the design and construction of traditional fluid catalytic cracking units.

KBR is an engineering, construction and services company supporting the energy, hydrocarbon, government services, minerals, civil infrastructure, power and industrial markets.

US-based KiOR is a next generation renewable fuels company that produces a crude oil substitute.
