German wind energy systems manufacturer REpower will supply 12 units of its MM92 wind turbines, with a cumulative installed capacity of around 24.6MW.

Overseen by Innergex Renewable Energy jointly with the regional country municipality Rivière-du-Loup, the wind farm is expected to become operational by the end of 2013.

When operational, the wind power project is expected to generate clean electricity that is enough to power several thousand Canadian households annually.

In addition, REpower will manage the commissioning and maintenance of the systems for the first ten years, while Hydro-Québec is the offtaker.

KfW IPEX Management Board member Markus Scheer said, "KfW IPEX-Bank’s financing for the Viger-Denonville wind farm in Canada focuses on one of the bank’s priorities, namely environmental and climate protection.

"As REpower is involved in the project, the bank is also supporting the export of German-built wind turbines. We are pleased to work together once again with REpower, a long-time valued business partner of KfW IPEX-Bank."
