Of the total funding, about $150m will be employed in the development of a wind power generation project in Maan District, while the remaining $65m funding will be used in the construction of liquefied natural gas (LNG) port in Aqaba.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the funding is being made under a Gulf Co-Operation Council resolution inked in 2011 to support development projects with a value of up to $5bn until 2016, reports the constructionweekonline.com.

The proposed 65MW wind power project will employ 30 generation wind turbines with capacity 2-3MW and will feature a step up sub-station (0.69/33/132) KV, 8KM of 132 OHL transmission line, expansion of Maan main Sub-station and construction of about 14 KM of access roads.

The new LNG Port in Aqaba is expected to have an operational throughput of 490 million cubic foot per day and a maximum throughput of 790 MMcfd. This project includes the marine infrastructure for berthing and mooring the floating storage and Regasification unit, and the LNG carriers, and a loading platform with the related equipment for handling and controlling the gas flow and the connection to the main gas pipeline supplying the Kingdom.

The Kuwait Government Grant covers the complete cost of both the projects.
