The move comes as the company may not submit necessary documents for regulatory safety checks of two of its nuclear reactors until late September or October 2014, The Japan Times reported.

The documents, including specific steps to deal with accidents, were initially planned to be submitted in late May.

Last month a draft report has been released by the Nuclear Regulation Authority confirming that the two Sendai reactors meet the regulatory standards that were introduced in response to the Fukushima catastrophe.

The reactors’ safety certification will be finalized once the additional documents are approved by the Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA).
