The projects entail NEXIS and AUTANOVE updates on the plant’s two operating units, which are expected to enter into service by the end of 2013.
L-3 MAPPS Power Systems and Simulation vice president of marketing & sales Michael Chatlani said, "Since the Beznau full scope simulator went into operation in the first quarter of 2007, Axpo has depended on L-3 MAPPS for its nuclear plant simulation needs."
For the NEXIS project, the existing WDPF-based plant information system at the plant will be replaced with Ovation-based system from Westinghouse, while the current remote hydro plant emergency power supply will be replaced with two on-site diesel generators for AUTANOVE project.
L-3 MAPPS will also modify the interface to the existing plant information system for NEXIS, to enable acommunication with the Ovation system supplied by Westinghouse.
Based on L-3 MAPPS’s Orchid Modeling Environment to remodel the electrical emergency power supply, including power distribution, for AUTANOVE, the new diesel generators will be simulated with their auxiliary and control systems.
L-3 MAPPS will also build the control logic which will be used to start up the diesel generators and turn on the necessary equipment.
