Under the deal, Landis+Gyr will provide over 36,000 S650 smart grid terminals to the distribution system operators (DSOs) RWE Stoen Operator, Enea Operator, Tauron Dystrybucja and PGE Dystrybucja.

Landis+Gyr Poland country manager Andrzej Szymanski said: "By having similar products rolled out across their networks at the same time, these utilities can streamline both operational benefits and costs as well as achieve higher levels of interoperability."

The S650 terminals are said to enhance Polish network operators’ distribution intelligence as well as provide network monitoring and control capabilities, to monitor power quality issues and optimize customer outages.

Poland’s national regulator has recommended the DSOs to reduce system average interruption duration and the system average interruption frequency indexes.

In October 2014, the DSOs have launched a public tender for the balancing meters, to upgrade medium-and-low voltage transformer stations in line with national energy law and regulation.

Landis+Gyr provides energy management products and advanced metering solutions. It generates revenues of more than $1.5bn and has a workforce of 5,500 across its operations in 30 countries.
