The new lampholder requires no wall switch and has a green LED indicator light, which blinks when motion is detected. The device automatically turns off after three minutes of inactivity and features a bulb design, which prohibits homeowners from using bulbs that are not energy efficient.

Although designed for use in closets and closed spaces, the Fluorescent Ceiling Lampholder can also be used in open, indoor spaces such as workrooms, basements, storage areas, utility rooms and attics. It consists of four knockout holes on the box, with a self contained sensor that provides a 284-degree field of view.

The Fluorescent Ceiling Lampholder comes with a 13W lamp and lamp guard and a limited two-year warranty. With an average lamp life of 10,000 hours, the hands-free design of fluorescent ceiling lampholder is qualified by the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star program and also meets the Canadian Electric Code Requirements for use in closets with a lamp guard.

Maureen Munnelly, senior product marketing manager of Leviton, said: “Leviton’s priority to provide economical, high quality solutions has led to the development of the energy efficient Fluorescent Ceiling Lampholder.”
