The company will supply electricity to over 400 properties including restaurants, storefronts and apartment complexes, as well as major biotech firms, governmental entities and healthcare facilities, beginning in January 2012.
Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter said Philly Buying Power is contributing to its Greenworks Philadelphia goal of buying or generating 20% of electricity used in Philadelphia from alternative energy sources by 2015.
Liberty Power CEO David Hernandez said the company will provide Philly’s customers with not only the lowest-cost power, but also the specific products and services they desire.
