The Switzerland-based smart metering company will install its Landis+Gyr’s Gridstream RF network to help LIPA communicate with advanced meters, distribution devices and home area network technology along with 4,500 E-350 FOCUS AX-SD advanced meters.

With the new technology, LIPA will be able to identify the outage locations and have more visibility into distribution grid conditions.

The system will also improve customer service by speedily responding to seasonal account changes.

It will help consumers to access information on their energy use and manage it.

Landis+Gyr Sales vice president Gary High said, "Gridstream is proven to promote efficiency and reliability of distribution systems, while improving customer service and providing the information to help manage energy better."
