The Prolific DC series have been designed to be powered by low voltage direct current electricity produced by solar and wind energy sources, a property that eliminates the need to power streets lights from the electrical grid.

The Prolific series LED street lights are claimed to be 50% more energy efficient than the HID street lights, and provide a uniform light distribution and result in energy and maintenance cost savings over the life of the fixtures.

The Prolific LED technology, which does not require re-lamping and re-ballasting, uses direct line wiring to eliminate traditional maintenance issues.

Lighting Science has already bagged a contract to provide its Prolific DC LED street lights for installation at Mexico City’s newly constructed ‘Viaducto Bicentenario’ elevated superhighway, which runs 23km from Lomas Verdes to Tepotzotlan.

Lighting Science Group CEO Zach Gibler said that with the Prolific DC series, countries around the world now have the freedom to install virtually anywhere environmentally-friendly, affordable and energy efficient street lights that have better lighting quality than the traditional HID lights.
