Commissioned in partnership with Hyosung (Korea), the 765kV GIS is a part of the transmission system of the 3,960MW Krishnapatinam ultra mega power project (UMPP).

The substation will boost the grid connectivity through 765kV Solapur substation and improve 400kV power distribution in Western India.

L&T has also commissioned a 765kV transmission line and a 2x1500MVA 765/400kV air insulated sub-station in the state of Rajasthan.

Capable of transmitting power from various generating stations, the 765/400 kV capacity air insulated sub-station can serve as an interface for the national grid connection to the power grid substations in Gwalior and Bhiwani.

The 765kV transmission line is stretched across 213km on a single circuit line and is built for the Rajasthan Rajya Vidhyut Prasaran Nigam.

Larsen & Toubro Infrastructure & Construction senior executive vice-president SN Subrahmanyan said: "We congratulate our customers, the Power Grid Corporation of India and the Rajasthan Rajya Vidhyut Prasaran Nigam on this achievement.

"One of the prime requisites for ramping up infrastructure development to get the economy back into growth mode is power and these projects show that we are moving in the right direction."
