The Canadian company will sell the diamond on tender at the forthcoming sale of Karowe diamonds scheduled on 26 November 2012, where over 57,000 carats of diamonds will be available.

This rare blue diamond the first of its kind discovered at Karowe, claimed the company.

Lucara president and CEO William Lamb noted that the rare stone recovery is significant to the Karowe asset.

"We had previously identified a population of Type II diamonds at Karowe and the recovery of this rare blue diamond confirms the quality distribution of the diamonds being mined at Karowe," Lamb added.
