The well, about 5km east of the Eldfisk Øst Field and 10km north of the Valhall Field, was spud with a primary target to determine the presence of hydrocarbons in chalks of the Shetland Group.
The well reported reservoir rocks in the Shetland Group when spud to a vertical depth of 2,619 meters though the reservoir properties were poorer than expected.
Data acquisition and sampling were undertaken and the well has been terminated in Creatceous rocks of the Hidra Formation and will now be permanently plugged and abandoned as a dry well.
Jack-up rig Maersk Guardian was mobilized for the program.
Lundin Norway, a partner in PL440S has 18% stake while the operator is Faeroe Petroleum with 40% while other partners include Dana with 20%, Noreco on 12% and Det norske with 10%.
