Drilled by the jackup rig West Prospero, the Tembakau-2 was drilling to a depth of 1,450m in 68m water depth and targeted stacked gas reservoirs in Miocene aged sands in a large, low-relief, structure discovered by Lundin Petroleum’s Tembakau-1 well in late 2012.

Lundin Petroleum president and CEO Ashley Heppenstall said: "The appraisal drilling results from Tembakau are positive.

"We are incorporating the results of the well into an updated resource estimate. We will now move forward in reviewing conceptual development options and I am hopeful that this will lead to another commercial development project in Malaysia."

Tembakau-2 is 3.7km to the south of the discovery well and penetrated 22m of gross gas sands in four sand intervals between 900m and 1300m subsea.

The main two reservoirs penetrated have been fully cored while the well was comprehensively logged.

Lundin Petroleum said in a statement: "The "I20" sand produced at stabilized flow rate of 15.8 million standard cubic feet per day of gas over a 8 hour period on 64/64" choke and the "I10" sand produced at stabilised flow rate of 15.9 million standard cubic feet per day of gas over a 8 hour period on 72/64" choke."

For further laboratory analysis, multiple samples were obtained whereas the data gathered will be analyzed and integrated with 3D seismic information.

The information will update the current gross contingent resource estimate of gas and will provide reservoir information for conceptual development studies.
