The property borders Fission Energy’s discovery in Saskatchewan’s Athabasca Basin. Fission said the discovery extends to the west.
The latest phase of operations comes after the company recently uncovered a significant gravity low on the Patterson prospect.
The program will focus on the new discovery and extend the coverage by around double the size of the first phase.
Makena Resources president Negar Adam said: "Recently, Fission announced outstanding results on its discovery extending it to the west.
"The fact the Makena currently has one of the smallest market capitalizations of any company bordering Fission’s discovery, combined with a new work program having commencing, creates a foundation of optimism about the future growth of the company."
