For the first time any Windspire turbine has been installated outside of the US.

Homeowners, businesses and museums are installing Windspires across the U.S. to generate their own clean energy and save money on energy costs while helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The 400th Windspire will provide clean energy to the home, replacing some of the current diesel generated energy the homeowners now receive from the local utility and reducing carbon emissions. Mariah Power recently announced the release of a 230V inverter that will enable the Windspire to connect to European grid specifications with anticipation of a major global launch of the product. Windspires are currently installed in Denmark, Costa Rica, France, Israel, and Turkey.

The Windspire wind turbine is a 30-foot tall, propeller-free, vertical-axis wind turbine designed for harnessing wind power in urban, suburban and rural locations. A complete Windspire wind turbine typically costs between $9,000 and $12,000 fully installed. After rebates, the cost can be as low as $3,800, much lower than comparable wind turbines and other alternative energy options.

“From the start of this company we focused on bringing a totally new approach to small wind so that more people could enjoy the benefits of producing their own clean energy,” Mariah Power Chief Executive Officer Mike Hess said. “Today’s latest installation is proof that the Windspire is changing the market for small wind appliances.”

“Mariah Power’s growth is indicative of a strong, promising market for residential small wind turbines in the U.S. and abroad,” American Wind Energy Association Small Systems Manager Ron Stimmel said.
