Funded by a local development bank Nafin, International Finance (IFC), and Corporación Aura Solar, the project was constructed for Gauss Energía.

Martifer Solar, the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the plant, will also oversee its operation and maintenance services.

Around 132,000 solar PV panels were installed in ground-mounted structures with single-axis solar trackers, giving the plant a capacity to supply clean energy to about 160,000 inhabitants, while offsetting 60,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually.

Martifer Solar CEO Henrique Rodrigues said the project attests to the strength of company’s engineering skills, flexibility to adapt and expanded global expertise.

"Aura Solar is an example of the great team spirit of all the entities involved: a renewable energy project that has overcome a considerable number of challenges thanks to each party’s commitment to make it a success," added Rodrigues.
