Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) awarded the contract for the combined cycle plant.
The contract agreement includes engineering, procurement, equipment delivery and the construction/installation works on full turn-key basis.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will supply the gas turbine and generator, while Fuji Electric will supply the steam turbine and generator for the project.
The BPDB is expected to take over the operatorship of the plant by 2015.
Marubeni has earlier completed the Rehabilitation Project of Unit 2 & 3 at Haripur 100MW Gas Turbine Power Plant and the Rehabilitation Project of Unit 4 & 5 at Karnafuri Hydro Power Plant in the country.
The company is also undertaking the New Haripur Power Plant Development Project (410MW), awarded by the Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh in February 2011.
