A joint venture of Matrix North American Construction and Parsons Brinckerhoff has constructed and commissioned the 309MW Garrison Energy Center in Delaware, US, for Calpine.

Located in the Garrison Oak Technological Park in Dover, the Garrison Energy Center has scope for an additional 309MW of generation capacity.

Construction was carried out as part of an engineering, procurement and construction contract awarded by Calpine subsidiary Calpine Garrison to the joint venture in 2013.

Parsons Brinckerhoff was responsible for the design, procurement of the balance of plant equipment, and the commissioning of the facility.

Capable of producing electricity required to power 300,000 homes, the facility features combined cycle gas-fired technology and has advanced environmental controls.

According to the company, the facility is expected to enhance electric system reliability in the region.

Calpine develops, constructs, owns and operates natural gas-fired and renewable geothermal power plants and has 87 power plants with 27,000MW capacity, in operation or under construction.

Matrix Service, through its subsidiaries, builds and maintains infrastructure for energy, power and industrial companies in North America.
