The first well, which was drilled to a depth of 864m, has shown the presence of ‘in situ’ oil in the Basal Oligocene Sands and indications of oil in the C5 and C7 formations.

Maurel & Prom holds a 50% interest in the CPO 17 license while the remaining 50% is owned by Hocol, the operator.

This drilling campaign is targeting different geological objectives present in this license.

The core samples showed 27m of oil impregnation, and 9mt significant oil saturation.

The work program for this prospect includes additional stratigraphic wells and a regular exploration well with a main Oligocene objective (Merlin-1), to allow for a possible production testing.
