The first one is a $15m grant to weatherize low income, multi-unit housing across Michigan, for which MCAAA will work with ClearResult Consulting of Okemos, Michigan to conduct energy audits on eligible buildings including Housing and Urban Development Qualified Assisted Housing.

The building residents must be income-eligible for the federal Weatherization Assistance Program for their buildings to undergo energy audits.

These energy audits will help identify measures to increase energy efficiency including furnace repair or replacement, installation of insulation, and reduction of air leaks around windows and doors.

The $19m second grant received by MCAAA is to fund a pilot program for the Michigan Public Service Commission on energy affordability in southeast and western Michigan.

Under this program, MCAAA will help the households that are in arrears in their utility bills improve the energy efficiency of their homes and in management of their finances.

DTE Energy, The Heat and Warmth Fund, and CleaResult Consulting will be joining MCAAA on this pilot program.
