The LV105 will be engaged to carry out deepwater umbilical and flexible pipe installation in the pre-salt region and Campos Basin area offshore Brazil.

With an option to extend, the term of the charter is around 200 days, and is expected to begin operations during the third quarter of 2014.

The LV 105 includes advanced Reel-Lay systems for rigid and flexible pipelay in water depths up to 10,000 ft and has the ability to install different pipelines, umbilicals, subsea hardware and deepwater moorings for floating facilities.

McDermott International subsea executive vice president Tony Duncan said the new contract award highlights Petrobras’ ongoing confidence in the company to deliver leading subsea installation solutions.

"The charter also supports our vessel utilization targets as during the second half of 2014 McDermott will have three deepwater vessels on charter to Petrobras," Duncan added.
