The Mississippian Lime is an oil-rich carbonate play which covers around 6.5 million acres in Oklahoma and Kansas. Mesa
Energy holds farm out agreements and leases on about 3,400 net mineral acres and continues to pursue additional assets in the play.
In the Mississippian oil play area, potential reserves are estimated to be between 300,000 to 500,000 barrels of oil equivalent per well.
The company has initiated its drilling program in the oil play by spudding Thomas Unit #6H well in its Turkey Creek Project located
in the Garfield County, Oklahoma.
Mesa Energy will drill the well to a total measured depth of about 11,700ft, including a horizontal lateral of around 4,000ft.
Upon reaching the desired depth, the company will run production casing and schedule a multi-stage fracturing. The firm owns a 100% working interest in the well. It is also the operator of the well.
Mesa Energy CEO Randy M Griffin said, "We are excited to be kicking off our drilling program in the Mississippian Lime and look forward to expanding our drilling program and acreage position in 2013."
The company also has plans to drill a salt water disposal well in the same location to serve many other production wells.
