The generating station in Jhansi will be able to improve process efficiency and ensure safer process operation as a result of the upgrade.
Metso will modernize the existing control system, which it supplied earlier. As part of the agreement, the firm will upgrade system software and hardware, and site services.
The upgrade is expected to help in better data collection, improved control, minimized device failures, and fewer unplanned shutdowns at the power plant.
The power station, which comprised of two 110MW, two 210MW and one 250MW units, is owed by Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam.
Delivery of the upgraded control system for two 110MW units is expected in January-February, while commissioning could be in February-March 2013.
