The facility is being built by state-owned power producer Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh in Haripur near Dhaka.
Shipment of the gas turbine and generator to Hyundai Engineering & Construction, the EPC contractor for the power project, is scheduled in April 2012.
Construction of the facilty is financially supported by Japanese ODA loan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
The new power plant will be built adjacent to an existing power plant, where three units of MW251 gas turbine and generator set that were supplied by MHI to Bangladesh Power Development Board, are in operation.
