The contract covers a M701F gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) with 450MW capacity for the project, which will also feature a generator manufactured by Mitsubishi Electric.

Scheduled to be commissioned in 2019, the GTCC is capable of supplying 200Gcal/h of steam as well as electricity.

As part of the contract, MHPS will be responsible for the design, procurement, manufacturing of the main equipment including the gas turbine and steam turbine, as well as major auxiliaries including the air cooled condenser and gas compressor.

As a consortium partner, Mitsubishi will procure the remaining electrical components. It will also be responsible for the project inland transportation, all civil works, and installation works at site.

Designed to supply electricity to the local area, the Navoi 2 project is the expansion of the existing Navoi 1 power plant, for which MHPS earlier supplied the same GTCC.

The Navoi 2 is expected to provide process steam to the Navoi Free Industrial Economic Zone and hot water for district heating to local residents.

MHPS, which has supplied 1,100MW of power generation equipment in the country, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Uzbekenergo in 2015 for operation and maintenance (O&M) of their power plants.

Uzbekenergo has assets including natural gas, coal and oil thermal power plants and hydroelectric plants. It produces approximately 50,000GWh of electricity annually to the country.
