Currently under construction in Sirajganj district, the power plant is expected to be one of the country’s largest and most efficient gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power stations.

Under the contract, MHPS will supply the turbine, which will be a core component of a dual fuel (natural gas with diesel as backup) GTCC power station.

It will also deploy staff at the site to provide instructions for installation, commissioning and testing operation of the turbine.

The contract scope also includes supply of generator manufactured by Mitsubishi Electric.

Additionally, MHPS signed a long-term service agreement (LTSA) for the power plant to perform maintenance and management of the gas turbine, supply parts for regular inspections, and provide remote operation monitoring services.

The power plant is scheduled to be commissioned in 2018.

The Sirajganj project is being developed by a joint venture (JV) between Sembcorp Utilities and North-West Power Generation Company (NWPGCL).

The contract was awarded through Sembcorp Utilities wholly owned subsidiary Sembcorp Project Engineering Company while the LTSA was signed through the JV.

MHPS said that the GTCC power plants primarily feature a gas turbine, steam turbine, waste heat recovery boiler and power generator.

The power plant generates power using the gas turbines while the resulting hot waste gas emitted is used to drive the steam turbine, enabling further power generation.
