North-West Power Generation Company (NWPGCL) is developing the power plant in Khulna district, about 150km northwest of Dhaka.

Marubeni, which is the prime contractor for the project, has appointed L&T to build the plant on EPC basis.

MHPS, which expects to deliver the shipments in September 2015, will manufacture and deliver an M701F4 gas turbine and a steam turbine for the project.

Gross output of Bheramara power plant will be over 410MW and the facility, upon completion, will meet about 5% of the total electricity demand in Bangladesh.

NWPGCL is a subsidiary of the Bangladesh Power Development Board, a state-operated entity executing power supply to the country’s northwest region.

MHPS has to date delivered five gas turbines to Bangladesh and several GTCC power plant systems both in Japan and overseas.

The company said going forward, it will continue to propose GTCC power plant solutions to the global market that make better use of resources and lower environmental burdens.
