The new CCFL inverter controllers incorporates the LX6523, which embeds high-performance features including the soft start, fault indication and flexible configuration support for the push-pull, full bridge, or half-bridge drive in ultra-low-cost 14-pin package for 26- to 37-inch displays. The LX6503 with SYNC functionality is targeted at the 40-inch-and-larger HV-LIPS TVs that combine both the power supply and the backlight inverter.

The LX6503 and LX6523 offer the key functions required for LCD TV / Monitor displays in simplified controller while offering reliable lamp striking, comprehensive brightness control modes and the support for 24V inverter topologies in the existing backlight applications. The SYNC capability drastically improves the display quality by synchronizing both frequency and phase of lamp current between the inverters or to external signals from various sources including DVD and Blu-Ray devices.

Microsemi continues to innovate in the CCFL controller space while delivering high-end features and capabilities down to lower price points, across all market tiers, stated Tom Kapucija, director of marketing with Microsemi’s Analog Mixed Signal Group. The LX6503 and LX6523 each set a new price/performance standard both in small LCD TVs as well as the latest HV-LIPS models. They are the first of many key products we will be launching during 2009, spanning a broad array of backlighting, sensor and color management system solutions that drive both conventional and emerging high-efficiency LED backlight solutions in a wide variety of TV, notebook computer, automotive and other display platforms and applications.
